Taxi Drivers in Colorado Springs want ride share comapnies and their drivers to do the following:

  • Driver license fee of $97
  • background check
  • subject ride share to the same working hour restrictions as taxi drivers
  • same physical examinations that cab drivers have to undergo to drive
  • same geographic limitations for each (currently taxis have limitations but ride share does not)

Newly posted rules are business friendly. Consumer advocates not as pleased. Here’s what the new rules would do:

  • Removes provision that companies  test autonomous vehicles for 1 year to fully deploy
  • Eases accident and autonomous vehicle-disengagement reporting requirements
  • No requirement for city approval for testing
  • Cities will have to be notified and companies will have to coordinate with cities
