AI disconnect: AI insiders v. Everyone else

This week Stanford released its annual AI report. This year, the focus is on the growing disconnect between AI insiders and the rest of us. It also discusses the recent Gallup poll showing a general disapproval rate of AI at 65%. Only 15% of GenZ believe AI has benefits.

In contrast, 56% of AI experts believe AI will be a net benefit in the next 20 years. 73% of experts think AI will have a positive impact on how people do their jobs. 23% of the rest of us agree. That’s a 50 point difference.

Legislative trend: smart glasses recording

Louisiana is advancing House Bill 410 to ensure recording by smart glasses and AI pendants are disclosed, requiring two party consent, and otherwise covered by the state’s laws.

The Republican bill author seeks to address “viral social media posts of women being recorded without their approval.” The bill is opposed by the Louisiana Press Association. @gizmodo

National AI framework

Following up the late 2025 AI Executive Order, the White House has released a national AI framework. The highlights are: preempting state laws, empowering parents(sound familiar Texans???), protecting rate payers from electric rate increases, requiring data centers to bring their own power, permit AI to fair use of copyrights, and remove barriers to innovation.
